HeyBub is a private photo album for your family. These are the rules for using it. We have tried to write them in plain language.
Who can use HeyBub
You must be 13 or older to use HeyBub, whether you start a family album or accept an invitation to one. If we learn that someone under 13 holds an account, we will close it and delete what it holds.
You must be 18 or older to buy a subscription, because that is a contract. A younger family member can be invited to an album someone else pays for.
Children appear in the photos. They are the subject of the album, not the people running it.
Your photos are yours
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you invite, which is what makes the app work, and nothing more. We do not sell your photos, use them to train anything, or show them to anyone you did not invite.
What you may not share
You may not upload, post, or send:
- Sexual or nude images of anyone, and never any sexual content involving a minor.
- Content that harasses, threatens, bullies, or impersonates another person.
- Content that is violent, hateful, or degrading toward a person or group.
- Anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share.
- Photos or videos of a child when you are not that child's parent or legal guardian, or do not have permission from someone who is.
We remove violations
If you break these rules we will remove the content, and we may suspend or delete your account without notice. Serious violations are permanent. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to law enforcement, as the law requires.
How to report something
In the app, press and hold any photo or comment and choose Report. It goes straight to the person who owns that album, who can remove the content and remove whoever posted it. You can also email heybubapp@proton.me. Tell us what you saw and where. We review every report and respond within 3 business days.
The person who owns a family album can delete any photo or comment in it at any time, and can remove any member, which immediately ends that person's access to everything in the album.
Who can see what
Only people you personally invite can see your album. There is no public feed, no discovery, and no way for a stranger to find you. You control, per person and per child, who can view and who can comment.
HeyBub blocks screenshots and screen recordings of your photos. One thing we cannot stop is someone pointing another camera at their screen. No app can, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
Paying for HeyBub
HeyBub costs $11.99 per month or $99 per year after a 7-day free trial. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and renew automatically until you cancel. You cancel in your Apple account settings, not here. Prices, trial eligibility, and renewal terms are shown by the App Store before you buy. Only the person who owns a family album pays. Invited family members never pay anything.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. When you do, we delete your photos, videos, and comments. Ask us at heybubapp@proton.me if you want that done for you.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
